Men’s Volleyball Cup: The fourth by PAOK, the sixth by Kokkinakis

PAOK added the fourth Volleyball Cup in its history, while Menelaus Kokkinakis reached six, joining the legends of the sport.

PAOK won the fourth cup in men’s volleyball after beating Finikas Syros in the final.

This title is the third for Giannis Kalmazidis (runner-up with PAOK), while Menelaus Kokkinakis achieved the six conquests they achieve Giourda, Kravarik and triantaphyllids.

REMARKS:

  • In 1987, teams from the national team did not take part in the cup.
  • In 1994, the cup took the form of a Final 4 tournament in Loutraki dedicated to the memory of Melina Mercouri. The international players who were preparing for the Cosmovole of Athens with the national team did not take part in this tournament.
  • Mainly for financial reasons, no events took place in 1986, 1988, 1991, 1995 and 1996.
  • From 1998 to 2002 the last phase of the cup took place in the form of Final 4.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).

Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.

For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:13, 30:28).

In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.

The final match will take place on December 26.
