Women’s Volley League: Stay in step for Elysian and Pannaxiakos

Elysiakos and Pannaxiakos defeated Amazonas and Porphyras respectively to take a step towards remaining in the Women’s Volley League.

The first win of the two needed to remain in the category came from Elysiakos in Nea Erithraia when he managed to ‘break’ the Amazons’ seat in the first game and take the lead to remain in women’s volleyball League.

In the first set, the Amazons led until 15:15, with Elysiakos then, with Legros in the lead, passing in front of goal and never looking back. With an attack from the American flank, Ilisia’s team made it 1-0 with a score of 25-22.

In the second set, the two teams were tied up to 17:16. At this point, Elysiakos went on a 5-0 run with a server Moreno and went 21-17 ahead with an extreme ace from Saint Dominic. With a block from Legros in Santos, Ilysiakos made it 2-0 again with 25:22.

In the third set, the Amazons didn’t concede, they were 8-2 ahead and despite Elysiakos’s series that sealed the set (8-7), the hosts kept control, Santos blocked the 25-15 for the 2-1 set.

Point by point, the two teams fell apart in the fourth set up to 18:18. Elysiakos took a 20-18 lead, the Amazons reduced to 20-19, but Ilisia’s team chose Radovic, who served and didn’t go back for the final 25-19 that came after their block Mercury.

The two teams renew their appointment next Wednesday (April 6th, 8:00 p.m.) in the gym of Ilisia “Antonis Fotsis” for the second game of the playoffs. If Elysiakos prevails, it stays in the Volley League and the Amazons are relegated, while if Vassilis Pandis’ team wins, there is a third game in Nea Erithraia.

Pannaxiakos had the solutions

The first of the two moves needed to remain in the Women’s Volley League came from Pannaxiakos, who defeated Porphyras 3-0 in the first game of the playouts.

We remind you that the series will be judged on the two wins and the second game will be played on Wednesday April 6 at the Porphyras headquarters, while both teams return to Naxos if a third game is required.

Porphyras, except for the second half where it collapsed after 12:11, was competitive in the other two, but Pannaxiakos found solutions from serve in his final straight and kept the advantage.

In the first set, the 5-3 became 5-7, with Porphyras going 10-14 (block in Ennis), but with American Pannaxiakos’ ace, the point (14-15) approached and the 16-17 became a 20-17 with Nikologianni’s streak while the home side achieved a four-way match bowl (24-20). Porphyras equalized the three (24:23), but Pavlenko lost the serve to make it 1-0.

In the second set we had a fight to 12-11 which became 20-11 with Vlasic’s serve to a very easy 2-0.

Porphyras tried to get back into the game and took an early lead (1-3, 3-6) with Pannaxiakos (Ennis pushed to the limit as Manai had knee problems) to turn 6-8 into 11-9. The visitors regained the lead and were 17-19, but took their final point at 19-20. Service was lost immediately afterwards and Pannaxiakos took the set and the precious win with a 6-0 aggregate series.
