European Volleyball U17: The national team defeated Slovenia 3-0 and is rightly one of the 4 best teams in Europe
Pagorasidon’s national volleyball team won a 3-0 set against Slovenia and advanced to the semi-finals of the European Championship.
National Pagorasisdon’s unbeaten streak in Group B of the European Championships, to be played in Bekeskampa, Hungary, continued with the girls of Kosta Gouda playing 6×6 against Slovenia and securing their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
“We want to surpass our previous participation and finish in the top 8,” said the national coach ahead of the tournament, and his girls made sure to raise the bar even higher by securing a place in the semifinals and a place on the podium.
Our opponent in the semifinals will be clear from tomorrow’s results. The national team wants to play 7×7 against Germany (13:00) to get first place and see which team from Group A (in Vrnijaska Banja, Serbia, where Balkanic will be played and also where semi-finals will take place) finds the way.
The match: In the first set, the Greek team, who played brilliantly in all elements of the game, turned 8-6 into 15-7 and never looked back. Slovenia came close by just 5 points (18-13) to go 25-15 and 1-0 on a 7-2 run.
The second set was for strong nerves and it was there that the Greek athletes showed that they now have character alongside their talent.
With some great blocking attacks we went from 8-7 to 12-8, with Slovenia cutting back to 15-14, but two attacks from Nanou made it 18-14 and at 21-16 we had it complete control over the game. There, Slovenia tried and managed to cause us problems with their serve, exploiting the difference (21-20) and going from 22-20 to 22-23 with a block from Tikmanidou.
She equalized with Priniotaki’s missed serve and set Slovenia’s first set, but it was canceled out by a net from our opponents. In the next phase we made another mistake (out attack) at 25:24 and Tikmanidou’s serve brought the ball back to our side and Nanou ended the attack at 2:0.
There, the game ended with the Slovenians throwing in a clean towel and the national team quickly taking a lead (1-2, 5-2, 8-4, 10-6, 13-7) to take a 20-11 lead. .. Slovenia were able to reduce to 22-17 but never threatened and the 25-18 final was marked by an attack from Dagre and sparked a furious cheer from the entire Greek mission.
