Panathinaikos Volleyball: Games at Mets, men’s and women’s training at OAKA
Panathinaikos volleyball teams will use Mets Stadium for matches and OAKA for training, Erasitechnis announced.
Erasitechnis Panathinaikos said in a statement that after discussions with the City of Athens, the Mets’ men’s and women’s volleyball departments will use the indoor court as their headquarters for their 2023–2024 season commitments.
At the same time, it became known that the training sessions will take place at OAKA, according to an agreement with Dimitris Giannakopoulos.
The Mets announcement
Panathinaikos AO informs about the seats of the volleyball divisions in the new competition season 2023-2024.
After months of negotiating all the possible stadiums that could accommodate the team but also meet the appropriate conditions, we finally ended up in Metz as the headquarters of our competition departments.
Specifically, we contacted the following stadiums: Cholargo, Ilysiakou, Zografou, Petroupoli, Glyfada and Ano Liosion, however, there were no times when they could meet our needs.
Concrete financial offers were made at the stadiums of Agios Thomas in Marousi and Panhellini, but no golden ratio was found.
Secretary-General Amarousiou’s counter-proposal was unviable both financially and competitively, and provided for exorbitant financial compensation and hours not worked.
As for the Panhellenic side, he never wanted to respond to our suggestion.
This is how we came up with the Metz solution that met our needs and ultimately chose them.
Accordingly, for the European games of the women’s basketball division, we have declared the Ano Liosia Stadium as the venue (there are also efforts for the indoor stadium of Cholargos), as this was the only possible solution, while the national games are usually played indoors’ P Giannakopoulos’.
Once again, we invite our fans to stand by our teams and, by attending matches, enhance our efforts to achieve our lofty goals.”
The announcement about Bakoyannis
“The Panathenaic Athletic Club feels the need to thank the City of Athens for supporting the federation and the Mayor of Athens Mr Costas Bakoyannis.
After a long search and continuous negotiations with various municipalities and stadiums across Attica, the City of Athens provided the solution for Panathinaikos.
More precisely, this year our federation will be hosted at the historic indoor stadium of Metz, where it will be the official seat for men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s futsal and wheelchair basketball.
The stadium in the heart of Athens gives us the opportunity to bring our divisions together and fight for the best possible results.
The Mayor Mr. Bakoyannis and his colleagues in the community responded to the request from the city’s large group and we are continuing the close collaboration we have on the issue of double redevelopment in a number of ways.
Until then, and to make our transition to our new home smooth, the City of Athens is taking the lead in promoting the city in the best possible way through their amazing sports ambassador.”
The announcement via OAKA
“The Panathinaikos Athletic Club sincerely thanks KAE Panathinaikos and Mr. Dimitris Giannakopoulos for providing the training facility to OAKA.
This special development makes a significant contribution to the fact that our teams in men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball have the highest level of everyday life and preparation for the games.
