European volleyball: The national team is aiming for a semi-qualification victory against the Czech Republic
The women’s national volleyball team will prevail against Yannis Athanasopoulos’ Czech Republic (20.08., 18.00) and wants to take a decisive step towards qualification for the next phase of the European Championship.
Less than 24 hours after defeating Sweden, the women’s national team will be back on the pitch to face the Czech Republic in a very crucial game this time (20/08, 18:00 ERT-3).
Against the side of Yiannis Athanasopoulos, who beat us 3-0 in 2021 and practically eliminated us from the next round, the national team hopes for their second win, which brings them close to qualifying.
“We will see the Czech Republic video, but we will also see today’s game because we have to avoid the mistakes that were made.”was Yunus Ocal’s laconic comment.
Martha Anthoulis was on the same wavelength: “We haven’t seen the Czech Republic yet, but we’ll definitely give it 100%. We will follow the coach’s tactics, which helped us a lot and what is certain is that we will fight for the second win.”.
Athanasopoulos: “I’m waiting for a reaction from my team”
Yannis Athanasopoulos meets Greece for the second straight Euro volleyball. Our compatriot coach notes: “The same strange feeling will be there when the national anthem of Greece is played, but once it’s over I will be committed to helping the Czech national team win.”
It’s definitely a very important game for both of them. We suffered a heavy defeat in our first game and I expect my team to react against a very good Greek side.”.
