Men’s Pre League: Aristotelis Skydras and Orthiada Athlos in final promotion in Volley League
Aristotelis Skydras and Athlos Orestiada will claim direct promotion to the Men’s Volley League after beating Kerkis Samos and AO Kalamata.
Aristotelis Skyrdas, who won 3-0 (27:25, 25:18, 25:20), at Kerkis Samos and Athlos Orestiadas, who won by the same score (22:25, 22:25, 21:25) at AO Kalamata 80 headquarters are the two teams that will claim promotion to the big category.
We remind you that the series will be judged on two (2) wins, with Aristotle having home field advantage (since he finished higher than his opponent in the standings), with the winner receiving the grand category ticket and the loser one last chance in the play-offs with Filippos Veroias (last place in Volley League).
In Skydra, Aristotle, after managing to bring the series back to his home with Kerkis (he had lost the first game at home but won in Samos), saw the score go 20-19 to 20-22 Torres erased the first, Sarikeisoglou equalized at 24-24 and Aristotle made his own set of bowls with an out attack from Barbounis and finally closed the set with a Gladstone block, Sarikeisoglou at 27 -25.
In the second, the hosts turned 6:4 to 9:4 to 16:9 and 23:14 to an easy 2:0.
Aristotle led 7-1, Kerkis made one last attempt to reduce to 14-11 and take the point (15-14). There, too, Gladstone, Sarikeisoglou with attack and block gave fresh air for Aristoteles, who reached 18-14 with Torres-Ace and made the last 25-20 in furious celebrations.
In Kalamata, on the other hand, where the home side proved strong in the first two games (which were settled in the tie-break), Athlos was better than half of the first set and clinched the win fairly.
Kalamata led 12-8, 16-13 became 17-17, Athlos passed for the first time 21-22 (block in Palentza) and became 21-23 due to a bad pass. The visitors lost the next serve, but an attack from Winston and ace Rizopoulos ended the set.
In the second set, 8-5 became 12-15, with Athlos keeping a 1-2 point lead after 17-18 and two errors by Kalamata’s players at 22-23 that brought the 0-2.
In the third set, 5:4 became 5:9 with Rizopoulos on serve, Kalamata initially reacted by reducing to 8:9 and overtaking 13:12 (Charalambidis attack), but Athlos reacted immediately (13:15) and came up 14-17. At 17-20, Guillermo scored +5 with a block and attack and the epilogue was written with an attack by Winston.
