Women’s Volley League: Olympiacos won the derby with PAOK 3-1
Olympiacos was excellent at times, taking a relatively comfortable win over PAOK (3-1) for the Women’s Volleyball League.
Olympiakos made a great showing for most of the game, claiming the win over PAOK (3-1) for the Women’s Volley League and staying in the hunt for Panathinaikos. The red and whites were superior and had no problems, they were detached from the black and whites on the scoreboard and now focused even more on what was happening in front of them instead of behind them.
Carlo Parisi saw his team causing a lot of problems in the first set with the reception of PAOK, which was constantly chasing the score, with the red-whites escaping at 11-8 and 14-10. PAOK came close to the point (14-13 with an ace from Merteki) and while it was -3 (17-14) it was tied at 19-19 with the hosts’ consecutive mistakes. The draw lasted until 20:20, when Costa got the change and Olympiakos won the set with an overall series of 5-0.
Completely different picture in the 2nd set, when PAOK had lost many serves thanks to Kojiar, Merteki and Olympiakos, the black and whites had constant control of the game (1-4, 6-10) and reached 11-17. On 18, Christodoulou’s serve brought the first surprise (16-18) as Olympiakos approached the point. Marco Fenolio passed in the game to Iliopoulou, Kyparissi with PAOK, who escaped again 19-22, but although Olympiakos lost three counters (equal number of blocks), equalized 24-24 with an ace from Emmanouilidou and reached an attacking bowl. In the next phase, however, the German knocked out (25-25), Kojiar brought PAOK back into the lead (26:27) and her own individual block formed 27:28 to end the set with an attack by Merteki.
PAOK started the third set with Iliopoulou, Kyparissi, but when Olympiakos escaped at 9-6 (from 6-6) Lee quickly stepped on the field with the reds and whites opening up the difference as 12-10 to 15-10 and 18 -11 without was the black and whites were able to change the situation and the 2: 1 came relatively easily.
Something similar happened in the 4th set, where Olympiakos quickly escaped again in the score 10-5, PAOK approached 12-9, but the defeat against Kyparissi was the beginning of the end with the Reds and Whites, who were 13-10 to 16. 10 and a little later 17-12 became 21-12 for Olympiacos to achieve victory.
