PAOK hosts Panathinaikos in the derby on matchday two of the men’s volleyball league (November 6th, 5:00 p.m.).

The televised derby between PAOK and Panathinaikos will conclude Matchday 2 of the Volley League Championship (11/6, 5:00 p.m., ET-3 HD).

Dikefalos will play the first home game of the season against Panathinaikos, against whom they have a 4-0 winning streak and defeated them in the semi-final series of the 2022-23 championship.

Josko Milenkowski’s side suffered a 3-0 defeat to Melina Merkouri’s Olympiakos in the Premier League and are aiming for a fresh start.

PAOK coach Josko Milenkowski said: “Until a few days ago, although we lost to Olympiakos, we were a team with excellent prospects and a lot of potential.” Unfortunately, we lost a key player in Thomas Russo, who has to undergo an operation and will be out for a long time. This is a difficult situation for all of us. We are trying to find a solution, but it is not easy. We have to overcome it because we have a strong game against Panathinaikos. We have nothing to lose, so we will fight with all our might. Ultimately the championship is long, there are many games with many surprises, so the game against Panathinaikos will be one of them.”

The face of the game is Theodoros Voulkidis, who switched camps to Panathinaikos in the summer and will therefore return to his old haunts.

In the premiere, Panathinaikos defeated Milos 3-0 and wants to continue its unbeaten streak.

Shamrocks international winger Thanasis Protopsaltis said: “It’s the first derby of the year for us. We want to measure our strength against a team with high goals so that we can see what level we are at the moment, even if it is like that.” “From the start we want to continue victorious in the championship.”

In 80 league games, Panathinaikos leads with 48-32 wins. It is noteworthy that PAOK was able to achieve four wins in a row.
