Men’s Olympic volleyball: Group qualifying final against Galati
On Sunday afternoon (December 11th, 6:00 p.m.) Olympiacos will meet Arcada Galati and want to secure qualification for the Champions League groups.
On Sunday afternoon (11/12, 6:00 p.m., Cosmote Sports 7), Olympiacos will face Arcada Galati with the winner of the game qualifying for the Champions League groups.
Both the red-whites and the Romanians have reached Group 2/2 without losing any points and are aiming to advance to the next round.
Of course, the team that is defeated also has hopes of qualifying, as they can qualify as the best runner-up depending on the results of the other group.
In this case, even two sets could be enough for Olympiakos, as the team that finishes second in the other group cannot reach seven points.
This is Galati
Arcada Galati are undefeated in the Romanian league so far, having only lost one point in four games. They beat Zalau 3-0 sets, Cluj 3-0 sets away, Steaua 3-2 sets and defeated 2/11 Dinamo 3-0 sets last Thursday at home and away in succession. He has 11 points and is tied for the lead with Konstanta.
Qualified second behind Spanish side Guaguas in the 4th qualifying group of the A phase of the Champions League. And that’s because they were defeated by Guaguas 3-0 sets, but then beat Croatia’s Mladost Zagreb 3-0 sets. This group was also the easiest as it consisted of three teams and two of them advanced to the B qualifying phase.
Among the 9 foreigners Gergie and Leskov
Galati has 9 foreigners in the squad, including a former red and white player. This is Hungarian winger Roland Gerkie, who played for Olympiakos in the 2019-20 season. There is also another familiar of the Greek courts, Moldovan passer Marin Leskov, who overtook Foinikas Syros (2018-19) and AO Orestiadas (2016-17).
The other passer-by is also a foreigner, namely the Iranian Javad Karimisuchelmayi. Both diagonals are foreigners, the Brazilian Teo Fabrizio Lopez and the Finn Aaro Nikula. The second Brazilian is extreme. It’s about Hugo Hamacher Silva, who is causing a stir together with Gerquier.
In the center are the Pole David Voch and the Moldovan Vasile Talpa, while the libero is the Slovenian Urban Toman. The Slovenian Urban Toman is in the libero position.
