With Aspiotis and Brian, Foinikas “lowered” Syros Kifissia 3-0

With Akis Aspiotis and Gustavos Oscar Bryan as protagonists, Foinikas Syrou returned to winning ways and defeated Kifissia 3-0 on matchday three of the Volley League Championship.

Foinikas Syros returns to winning ways with an impressive 3-0 win over AOP Kifissia on matchday 3 of the Volley League Championship. With Akis Aspiotis and Gustavos Oscar Bryan as protagonists and an effective block that brought 15 points (including 7 from Brian), the Syrians prevailed without losses after having to catch up 10-15 in the first set.

Kifissia seemed unprepared again. Apart from Spyriounis, no one appeared aggressive, the serve was weak and the center suffered from Galiotos’ decisions on the other side. For Kifissia it is the second defeat in as many games (the first game had an off day).

The picture of the game at the beginning was different from the final. Kifisia entered the game with a lead of 9-4 and 15-10, but everything changed from there. Two consecutive points from Bryant brought the home team to 12:15, while “Kifisio” errors caused ups and downs and the home team took advantage of them to take the lead 22:21 after a Bryan block on Ricardo. Phoenix advanced to a double bowl set when Bojic got an out after a period of time. The central player from Foinikas then sent the ball into the net on his serve, but after contact in the net from Spiliotis, the home team finally secured the set 25-23.

With a pressing serve from Barbunis, Finikas took an early 6-3 lead in the second set. Kostas Christofidelis went to the stadium of Hasbala and Baka instead of Stivachtis and Bogits. Kifisia reduced the score to 6:7 after an error by Aspiotis, while a little later, after another mistake by the home team when receiving, the set remained tied at 10:10. But Finikas with a strong serving weapon and aces from Aspiotis and Barbunis managed a 3-0 run for 14:11. Kifissia reacted, reduced and Spyriounis reduced to 21:20. Finikas with “spearhead” Aspiotis reached a quadruple bowl set of 24-20. Kifisia stayed “alive” twice, but Aspiotis was the one who closed the set with his own attack at 25-22.

In the third set, Baca’s consecutive offensive errors gave Phoenix a 7-5 lead. The hosts made it 9:6 with Gome’s counterattack. Kostas Christofidelis again overtook Bogic instead of the unprepared Baka. After a block from Brian, the hosts opened up another lead of 13:9. Kosmas took Veloudis’ place, while Spyriounis “took Kifisia’s attempt to win the set back on his shoulders,” going on a 3-0 run to reduce the score to 13-12. Then Hasbala’s ace brought the two teams to 15:15. Phoenix responded with a 3-0 run of its own and led 18-15 after a block from Datsa and an ace from Brian. Kifisia “turned it up a gear” and got to 20:19 with Spiriounis and Alves. Phoenix went up +3 again with a Galiotos block on Ricardo, 23-20, and eventually closed the set 25-21 when Gomez and Brian blocked Ricardo.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane

The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.

The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.

“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”

I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.

I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.

The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.
