Olympiacos – Panathinaikos 3:1: In the final with a great salas that made it 1:0
Olympiakos had a terrible performance against Panathinaikos and Vilma Salas won the match with a big gun 3-1 and made it 1-0 in the series of Finals.
The first of the three steps to winning the championship was taken by Olympiacos, who defeated Panathinaikos 3–1 in the closed “Melina Mercouri” in Rentis and scored 1–0 in the series of women’s volleyball league finals. Panathinaikos led 1-0 in sets but the Reds and Whites had a terrible day with Vilma Salas making the difference.
The Cuban lifted the weight of the attack, Olympiacos’ block did its job and Hippe spoiled Panathinaikos’ reception. The Greens fought until the third set, until the fourth they couldn’t keep up with Olympiakos and are now 0-1 behind in the final series.
The next meeting of the two teams will take place on Tuesday, May 3rd at 18:00 in the hall of Ag. Thomas in Maroussi. Olympiacos and Panathinaikos meet again after 7 years and the 2014-15 season in the A1 Women’s Final.
The race
Panathinaikos started the first set dynamically, found valuable points from Manolina Konstantinou and gradually built up a difference. Olympiakos reduced had an opportunity to take the set to 2 points but the referees gave Hippe and Cross an out attack and then closed the first set for the greens.
The picture changed in the second set, Olympiacos took the lead and increased it to five points. The greens reduced, but Salas and Giota equalized again, bringing the difference to four (15-11). Panathinaikos was able to parry the counterballs but couldn’t finish, Brabia’s substitution didn’t go through and Olympiakos took the second set and brought the first final to a draw.
The third set was a derby, Olympiakos maintained a small two-point lead, Panathinaikos tried to equalize. The greens took the lead, Olympiakos didn’t let the score go by, they took the lead again by two. Since then, the red-whites have kept their composure and remained focused and took a 2-1 lead in sets.
Olympiakos had a chance since winning the third set, starting 7-1 and crushing Panathinaikos. Mistakes from the greens coupled with the hosts’ effectiveness on the counterattack gave Olympiacos a clear lead. The Paris players dominated and made it 1-0 in the final and won the fourth set.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
