Meeting on Saturday in Maximos about fan violence after the police officer was injured
Kyriakos Mitsotakis will hold a meeting with Economy Ministers Floridis and Vroutsis on Saturday, NEWS24/7 reports.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will hold a meeting on fan violence with Citizens Protection Ministers Yiannis Economou and Justice Giorgos Floridis and Deputy Sports Minister Yiannis Vroutsis at Megaros Maximos tomorrow, Saturday.
The meeting, expected to begin at 11:00 a.m., comes after a police officer was seriously injured by a naval flare during incidents with hooligans outside the closed Nice “Melina Mercouri” gymnasium, where a volleyball match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos was being held becomes.
“The perpetrators of all these terrible crimes have nothing to do with the sport and the thousands of fans who want to go to the stadium. They are ordinary criminals who threaten the tolerance of some and sometimes even take lives and destroy property.” Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said this previously.
However, Mr Marinakis believes that the government-sponsored changes to the criminal code will largely solve the problem of fan violence.
“All these criminals who have no color or group are criminals and we must all be against them. They commit serious crimes, including murder, but they also commit offenses that have a major impact on public property.”
We will not see again what we have seen in recent years, of them coming in with a self-imposed trial, being convicted and coming out again. These will end with the upcoming changes to the Criminal Code.” argued the government representative in particular.
