During the briefing on the measures taken by the government to combat fan violence, Pavlos Marinakis was asked why they were not extended to basketball and volleyball and responded accordingly.
The announcement of the government’s measures to combat fan violence led to the decision to suspend all Super League and Greek Cup football matches until February 12.

Pavlos Marinakis’ position in detail:
“We believe that these episodes also extend to other sports: football, sometimes basketball. But at its core it’s about violence on football pitches. I don’t think what happened there is a volley problem. They just found the opportunity that day, an army was moved and did what they did outside the stadium.
As for basketball, it appears that very important, critical “finals” can be played while keeping fans safe. With intensity, very great interest, but this is an example that shows that we can have very marginal games between the top teams, not just Greek teams, and in the league, without what happens in corresponding football games.
So we didn’t think it was right to apply this to basketball and other sports“.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
