Director of the Belgorod Arena Yuri Chernikov told what damage the sports complex received after the shelling of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Belgorod Arena is the home stadium of the men’s volleyball Super League club Belogorye. The team is playing home matches this season in Tula due to a security threat.
– Trouble has come to us. Unfortunately, it arrived to us in the morning. I am glad that there were no injuries, no deaths. There was only security on site, but it was located where there were no arrivals.
It’s such a shame about the arena. We will repair it. We will do everything to make it comfortable for our athletes to train here. Just to the point of tears, damn it. [Повреждены] the administrative building, my office, the secretary’s office… They are gone, everything is broken. Damage to glass, about 20 percent, is one of the most expensive pleasures. Well, the equipment that we have is very expensive. Everything is European. There is also a lot of damage.
The main thing is that there are no casualties. Everyone was remote. Both athletes and all events have been cancelled. There was only an administrative building. 10 minutes before my arrival, all this happened,” Chernikov told reporters.
Watch matches of the volleyball Super League on the channels of the Match group, as well as on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
