Panathinaikos beat Pontoliani 3-1 in Ukraine and made an important step towards qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.
Panathinaikos has taken a big step towards qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup. The Greens prevailed 3-1 against Pontoliani in Ukraine and now want to get the ticket for the next phase with two sets in Agios Thomas. The second game is next Tuesday (January 18th).
The greens, although trailing 14-11, made a series of 5-0 and took the lead. They did not allow the Ukrainians a header and won the first set 26-24. The second set was also possible, both teams had a good series, but Panathinaikos won again with 25:23.
The Ukrainians reacted and were able to reduce the score by a set of 25:23. However, Andreopoulos’ team was able to complete the third set with 25:22 and take a big win.
