Vladimir Alekno headed the volleyball Zenit from St. Petersburg
Former head coach of the Russian men’s volleyball team Vladimir Alekno took over the leadership of Zenit St. Petersburg, the club’s press service reports.
The agreement with the specialist is for two years.
Alekno led the Russian national team three times – from 2007 to 2008, from 2011 to 2012 and from 2015 to 2016. The specialist spent most of his coaching career at Zenit Kazan (2008–2021). Alekno’s last job was with the Iranian national team, with which he took ninth place at the Tokyo Olympics. In August 2021, the specialist took a break from his career.
St. Petersburg Zenit took sixth place in the Super League last season.
