Puerto Rican Volleyball Player Found Dead in Her Turkey Home
Puerto Rican volleyball player Pilar Mari Victoria Lopez, who played for Turkish club Nilüfer Belediyespor, was found dead in her home.
The athlete did not show up for the team’s training session, and club representatives went to her home, where they found the player’s body. The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the incident, and a forensic medical examination will determine the exact cause of the 28-year-old athlete’s death.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Pilar Mari Victoria Lopez. The sudden loss of Pilar has left us all in shock. Our condolences go out to his family, relatives and friends,” the club said in a statement.
Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi also expressed his condolences in connection with the death of the national team player.
– Pilar was an outstanding volleyball player who brought fame to our island at the international level, being an example of dedication, demonstrating passion for this sport. Pilar showed that with hard work and determination, dreams can be realized.
Her legacy will live on in every young person who dreams of achieving great things, on every volleyball court, in every Puerto Rican heart inspired by her example. Rest in peace! – Pierluisi wrote on social media.
