The Presidium of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) decided not to renew the contract with the head coach of the Russian men’s team Tuomas Sammelvuo, VVF President Stanislav Shevchenko told Match TV.
– Sammelvuo’s contract ended, the presidium of the federation decided not to renew the agreement. Now the final of the Russian championship is taking place, there will be a Spartakiad in the summer. Based on these two events, conclusions will be drawn on the future head coach of the national team,” Shevchenko told Match TV.
The head of the VFV also named Italian replacement Sergio Buzato as head coach of the women’s team.
– Zoran Terzic signed a contract with the women’s team, this year he will be involved in the national team. The national team will have a training camp in August, will be doing its job, now he is closely following the finals of the Russian championship,” Shevchenko said.

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.
