Volleyball players of the Ukrainian club “Reshetilovka” Ruslan Osipenko, Andrey Orobko and Dmitry Shavrak did not return to the country after the matches of the 1/16 finals of the Challenge Cup in Belgium.
On November 12 and 13, Reshetilovka lost both matches to the Belgian Menen with the same score of 0–3.
According to media reports, after leaving for Belgium, Andrei Orobko and Dmitry Shavrak decided not to return to Ukraine, and Ruslan Osipenko left the team during a stop in Poland on the way to Belgium.
At the same time, another player, Nikolai Kuranov, was taken to the TCC (territorial recruitment center) at the border before leaving.
“We strongly condemn the actions of these athletes; no status or profession exempts them from responsibility to their state,” said Reshetilovka director Sergei Kotman.
