The Polish volleyball club withdrew from the tournament in Dubai because of the participation of Russian teams

The Polish Volleyball Club “Sleptsk Suvalki” announced the withdrawal from the international tournament NAS Sports Tournament in Dubai (UAE) because of the fact that Russian teams will play there.
The commercial tournament in the UAE will be held on March 12–20. The Moscow Dynamo and Nova from Novokuybyshevsk (Samara Region) were declared there. Earlier it was reported that the tournament should be played by the French Toulouse, the Egyptian Zamalek and Al -Ahli, as well as the Brazilian “Garden of Kruzeiro”.
– The decisive factor that influenced the refusal of participation was information about the participation in the tournament of two clubs representing the Russian Federation. After consultations with partners, the Polish Association of Volleyball and the Polish Volleyball League, we supported the position that involves not to enter into rivalry with Russian teams. It is worth emphasizing that our club has also encountered infrastructure restrictions. The employment of our home arenas for international events did not give us the opportunity to fully prepare for the tournament, ”the statement said on the official website of Sleptsk Suvalka.
In the Championship of Poland – 2023/24 “Sleptsk Suvalki” could not break into the playoffs and took the final 11th place.
