The Polish club refused to play with two Russian teams in the UAE and did not even hide his hatred of our country.
The rapid stream of news about the imminent return of Russian athletes to the world arena does not cause positive for everyone. There remains a number of countries that do not disdain frank Russophobia and do everything, if only to guess to our clubs and athletes. Another thing is that they often create problems for themselves, as did, for example, a Polish volleyball club in front of the tournament in the Emirates.
Unceptible hatred
Fetting against Russia in sports led to the fact that in fact, for the first time in three years, our volleyball clubs are preparing to take part in a large international tournament in NAS Sports Tournament in Dubai from March 12 to 20. The Moscow Dynamo and the Novova club from the Samara region will hold a series of matches along with the French Toulouse, the Egyptian “Zamalek” and “Al -Ahli”, as well as the Brazilian “Garden of Kruzeiro”.
The list also included the Polish team “Sleptsk Suvalki”, which did not understand what. Shortly before the start of the competition, the club management announced the withdrawal from the tournament and did not even try to evade and look for political correct reasons for this. In the publication on the official website, the Poles honestly said that all this was because of Russia.
– The decisive factor that influenced the refusal of participation was information about the participation in the tournament of two clubs representing the Russian Federation. After consultations with partners, the Polish Association of Volleyball and the Polish Volleyball League, we supported the position that involves not to enter into rivalry with Russian teams. It is worth emphasizing that our club has also encountered infrastructure restrictions. The employment of our home arenas for international events did not give us the opportunity to fully prepare for the tournament, ”the statement said on the official website of Sleptsk Suvalka.
Actually, the Poles made it worse than these, but to themselves. The competition will be perfectly held without their participation, the good that all other teams were absolutely calmly accepting rivalry with the Russians and did not turn their nose. But from Poland, of course, it was hardly worth waiting for something else. Recall at least the confrontation between the male team of this country and Russia even before all sorts of sanctions, conflicts and geopolitical tension.
What will happen next?
Even then, the Poles fiercely hated our volleyball players and tried to arrange all kinds of provocations. The ex-player of the Russian national team, Alexei Spiridonov, will not allow to lie. The State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova rightly noted that this situation will not affect the restoration of Russian athletes globally.
– Until now, they still have Russophobia. But you have to come to terms, because after some time we will return. Will they stop participating in sports competitions because of this now forever? These are their problems. Will the boycott affect ours? Not at all. All athletes always know who did not show up who did not want – this is their problem. Why don’t no one think when we are not? No one is worried, but that there are no Russians for so much time! Maybe this is selfish somewhere, but this is the key to the result, ”said Zhurova“ Match TV ”.
Our Olympic champion raised a fair question: what will the Poles and other countries do, which are negatively related to us when Russia will fully return to world sport? There is a feeling that there will be a change of rhetoric. And now the Poles have lost their possible prizes for the tournament and the chance to prepare well for the season in rivalry with strong teams. In a single manner, such a boycott can take place, but they will not be able to constantly refuse to play with the Russians even in Poland with all the desire.
