The volleyball player of the national team of France and the Petersburg Zenit Zhenya Grebennikov was awarded the Knight’s Order at a meeting with France President Emmanuel Macron, the Zenit press service reports.

12 players of the Volleyball national team who participated at the 2024 Olympics in Paris were invited to the ceremony in the Champs Palace. The national team at home games won gold by beating the Poland team in the final.

Zhenya Grebennikov, Yasin Luati, Antoine Brizar, Kevin Tilly, Nicolas Le Goff, Jean Patri, Benjamin Tonyutti, Barteli Revyz became officers of the National Order of the Honorary Legion “For Merit”. In 2023, athletes were awarded the signs of the knights of the Order of the Legion of Honor after the victory in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Erwin Ngapet and Theo Fors were awarded the signs of the knights of the Order of the Legion of Honor – the highest sign of distinction, honor and official recognition of special merits.

Grebennikov, as part of the French national team, won the European Championship, the World League, the League of Nations, twice became the Olympic champion (2020, 2024). The 34 -year -old volleyball player is the son of the Soviet volleyball player and coach Boris Grebennikov. He has been playing in Zenit since 2021.
