Olympic volleyball champion Sergei Grankin resumed a sports career at the age of 40, athlete agent Vladimir Kastornov said.
Grankin will play for the Portuguese Sporting. In the 2024/25 season, Grankin served as head coach Yaroslavich. The last club, for which Grankin spoke, was the New Urengoi “Torch”. Earlier, the binder played for Berlin, Moscow Dynamo, Belogorye.
– Grankin resumes the career of the player and will spend the next season in the Portuguese Sporting. The choice of “Sporting” is primarily due to the participation of the club in the Champions League, in which the team will start from the group stage, as well as the highest level of organization of the club.

As part of the Russian national team, Grankin won the Olympic tournament (2012), two European championships (2013, 2017), twice won the world league (2011, 2013). Also in his asset of the bronze of the Olympiad -2008.
