Italian women’s team became the world volleyball champion
The volleyball players of the Italian national team beat the Turkish team in the final match of the World Cup, which was held in Thailand.
The meeting in Bangkok ended with a score of 3–2 (25:23, 13:25, 26:24, 19:25, 15: 8) in favor of Italians, which included 22 points by Paola Egon, 14 points – Ekaterina Antropova. Melissa Vargas (33 points) became the most effective player.
In the match for bronze, the Brazilian team defeated the Japanese women – 3-2 (25:12, 25:17, 19:25, 27:29, 18:16).
The Italians won gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and the world champions previously became in 2002.
In 2017, Anthropova was part of the expanded composition of the Russian national team among players under 16 years old. As part of the Italian national team, she became the Olympic champion and won the League of Nations twice.
