Romanian coach Cretu left Belogorye for personal reasons

The head coach of Belgorod “Belogorye” Gheorghe Cretu announced his resignation and early termination of his contract for personal reasons, the press service of the volleyball team reports.

The coach of the Belogorye-2 team, Sergei Baranov, will serve as head coach until the end of the season.

— I am leaving the club for personal reasons that I would like to keep to myself. I am grateful to the team and the club management for the opportunity, but sometimes circumstances trump everything. This team has a great future and I wish them success,” Cretu said.

The Romanian specialist took charge of the Russian club in the summer of 2025. Under the leadership of Kretsu, Belogorye played the Final Four of the 80th Anniversary of Victory Cup, in which they won bronze medals, and played three rounds of the Russian Championship, winning two victories.

– We are stunned. “We will try to accept and digest this situation,” said Belogorye director Sergei Tetyukhin.

Cretu already headed Belogorye in the 2017/18 season. The specialist in Russia also worked in Kemerovo “Kuzbass”, with whom he won the Russian Super Cup and won bronze medals in the national championship.
