Iranian volleyball player electrocuted in swimming pool diagnosed with brain death

The medical commission has declared Iranian volleyball player Saber Kazemi brain dead, gdh.digital reports, citing a statement from the Iranian Volleyball Federation.

Previously, Kazemi received a strong electric shock in the pool, after which he required urgent resuscitation. The incident took place at the hotel where the Qatari team Al-Rayyan, which he had recently joined, was staying. The athlete was placed in an induced coma and subsequently brought out of it.

It is noted that the volleyball player is connected to a life support system and remains in intensive care.

Kazemi is 26 years old, as a member of the Iranian national team he won the Asian Championship (2021) and the Asian Games (2018, 2022), and in 2021 he was recognized as the most valuable player of the Asian Championship. At the club level, he played for several Iranian teams, the Qatari Al-Arabi.
