Lokomotiv volleyball player Deru was diagnosed with cancer
Belgian volleyball player of Novosibirsk Lokomotiv Sam Der was diagnosed with cancer, the club’s press service reports.
– Sam, we are with you! After a routine examination, Sam Deru was diagnosed with cancer and will have to undergo chemotherapy. Our player’s contract continues to be valid, he remains on the team with us.
All our thoughts are only about Sam, we pray for his recovery. We will support our player in this difficult battle,” the statement says.
Der is 33 years old, he moved to Lokomotiv from Zenit Kazan in 2025. Previously, the Belgian played for Dynamo Moscow, Polish Zachsa, as well as Italian Modena and Verona. Deru became the champion of Russia four times, the champion of Poland three times and the winner of the Euroleague.
