The Secretary General of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF), Alexander Yaremenko, said that the disciplinary commission of the organization is going to consider the statements of the head coach of the Kaliningrad Lokomotiv Andrey Voronkov during the final match of the Russian championship against Yekaterinburg Uralochka-NTMK.
The decisive meeting took place on May 12 and ended with the victory of Lokomotiv in five sets. During the time-out, Voronkov gave instructions to the players and pulled Valeria Zaitseva aside, addressing whom he said: “Why are you catching this monkey again?” The phrase hit the air “Match TV”. Uralochka-NTMK is represented by a dark-skinned Cuban player Ailama Sese Montalvo.
– At the moment we are waiting for the position from the clubs, athletes and the coach. Of course, this incident will be considered by the disciplinary commission of the VFV in the near future, – Yaremenko’s words are quoted in the Telegram channel of the VFV.
In Uralochka, they called on Voronkov to make a public apology to Montalvo.
