Volleyball player “Uralochka-NTMK” Ailama Sese Montalvo left the Yekaterinburg club not because of the scandal with the head coach of the Kaliningrad “Locomotive” Andrey Voronkov.
– Montalvo’s departure is not connected with the scandal. She will continue her career in Romania,” a source familiar with the situation told RIA Novosti Sport.
On May 12, Voronkov, during a time-out in the final match of the Russian Championship against Uralochka-NTMK, giving the instructions to the volleyball players, pulled Valery Zaitseva aside and said: “Why are you catching this monkey again?” The phrase hit the air “Match TV”. Montalvo played for the team from the Sverdlovsk region, after the effective actions of which a time-out was taken.
The 21-year-old Cuban has been playing for Uralochka-NTMK since 2019. As part of the club, Montalvo won silver and bronze at the Russian Championship.

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.
