Gennady Shipulin, Vice-President of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVV), commented on the decision of the VVF disciplinary commission, which found the coach of ZhVK Lokomotiv Andrey Voronkov guilty of disciplinary violations and advised the executive committee. VVV disqualifies the specialist for up to two years.

In the last series of the Women’s Super League against Uralochka, Voronkov asked one of his team’s volleyball players, “Why are you holding this monkey again?” said. For “Uralochka” is a dark-skinned athlete from Ailama Montalvo, originally from Cuba.

“There must be a solution, but it is difficult for me to say what it is. The Board will make the right decision. We must find a compromise. Andrei Voronkov has been in volleyball for a very long time and he is a normal person. Situations like this happen to everyone, then I said you should apologize, find the right solution. There are difficulties in our coaching work, but he did not insult himself, he did.

We must approach the issue carefully, weighing all the pros and cons. Not the best decision – just disqualify, maybe there will be some changes. I hope everything will be resolved normally. Disqualification is the wrong way out, if you have to apologize, let them apologize. None of our coaching workshops should allow such moments, they do not respect us. This is, God forbid, the first wave of emotions, then they calm down, ”says Metaratings.ru, quoting Shipulin.

Coach Voronkov refused to explain why he did not apologize to the Cuban volleyball player for a racist remark.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).

Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.

For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup

Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.

In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.

The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:13, 30:28).

In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.

The final match will take place on December 26.
