RIA Novosti said that Cuban volleyball player Ailama Montalvo, who plays for the Uralochka-NTMK team, does not plan to return to Russia in the future.
Recall that during the last series of the Women’s Super League, Lokomotiv’s head coach Andrey Voronkov called Montalvo a monkey during a conversation with volleyball players.
Asked about a possible return to Russia as a volleyball player, Montalvo replied, “Yes, I would.”
Montalvo also commented on Voronkov’s reluctance to apologize.
“I’m not surprised at all,” added the athlete, who will continue his career in Romania.
The disciplinary commission of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) found Voronkov guilty of disciplinary violation and recommended that the VVF board disqualify the coach for up to two years.
