Pannaxiakos qualified for the top eight teams in the Greek Women’s Cup, who prevailed with a 3-1 set by Markopoulos. American winger Alexandra Lowe made her debut for the Naxos side, who came on as a substitute, while Puerto Rican winger Charlissa De Jesus made her debut for the Mediterranean side.
In the first set, Pannaxiakos led 22-18 but Markopoulos was the one who opened the game, winning it 25-23.
Pannaxiakos then responded, leading the second set 8-4, 13-8 to win it 25-16, while in the decider 22-15 might have become 23-20 but the hosts made the 2-1 set with 25-21.
In the fourth set, Markopoulos made his final counterattack, equalizing 19-19 from 14-10, but Pannaxiakos was the one who smiled in the final, taking it to 25-22 and the final 3-1 set.
