The sports director of Belogorye Dmitry Ilyinykh spoke about the changes that the Russian Volleyball Championship among men’s teams will undergo in the 2022/23 season.
“The Final Six is no longer being considered. There will be a full-fledged playoff, where the number of teams at this stage is in question. Usually there are eight teams. They also think about how many matches will be played at different stages of the playoffs, for example, in the first round or in the semi-finals. The final, of course, up to three victories. Everything else is questionable. Also, the championship of Russia is planned to be expanded to 16 teams. One will be from Belarus. They just decide which one. Nobody left the Superleague, Orenburg remained. This means that another one from League A comes in – “Nova” from Novokuibyshevsk, – quotes the words of the Ilyins “Championship”.
The current champion of Russia is Dynamo Moscow.
