Van Den Dries returned to PAOK

After a successful year-long stint at Panathinaikos, Bram Van De Dries returned to PAOK where the Black and Whites announced their agreement with Belgium’s diagonal for the upcoming season.

PAOK has taken a very important step after taking back Bram Van De Dries. The Belgian Diagonal returned to Dikefalos after his hugely successful spell at Panathinaikos last season (they won the league) where he played for 1.5 years. The 32-year-old explained on Dikefalos’ official website:

“I am very happy to return to PAOK, a team that I like very much. I want to thank the management and the coach for their trust.

Next season will be very strong, but we will do our best to achieve our goals.”

The announcement in detail:

“PAOK and the Men’s Volleyball Division announce the start of a collaboration with athlete Bram Van Den Dries for the 2022-2023 season.

Born on August 14th, 1989 in Belgium, Bram Van Den Dries plays diagonally and is 208 cm tall.

He started at Mendo Booiscot (2005-07) and later played at Topvolley Callant Antwerp (2008-09).

In the 2009/10 season he played outside of Belgium for the first time, playing for Andreoli Latina in the Italian league. He remained in Italy until 2013, taking part in Umbria Volley (2010-11), Volley Segrate 1978 (2011-12) and Sir Safety Conad Perugia (2012-13).

Next stop of his career was French Beauvais Oise UC (2013-14) to continue his journey in Turkey and Maliye Milli Piyango Ankara (2014-15) and later Poland and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn (2015-16).

He returned to France in the 2016-17 season, this time for Spacer’s Toulouse Volley, while the 2017-18 season was his first outside of Europe as he featured in the first half in South Korea for Ansan OK Savings Bank Rush&Cash, returning to France as runner-up again to the French, Spacer’s Toulouse volley. He also stayed in France in the 2018/19 season, playing for Rennes Volley 35 in which he emerged as the top cross in the French league.

In the 2019/20 season, Bram Van Den Dries found the first half in Korea, this time for KB Insurance Stars, and the second half in Greece for PAOK, where he made his first appearance in Black and White.

He stayed with Dikefalos for the 2020/21 season but was ‘marked’ by the pandemic.

Last season he played for Panathinaikos and his performances were instrumental in winning the championship.

He is a member of the Belgian national team, with which he was even named MVP in the European League (2013) and also took first place with his country.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane

The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.

The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.

“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”

I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.

I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.

The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.
