Foinikas Syrou announced the acquisition of 33-year-old international Yiannis Roumeliotakis, who played in Switzerland last year.

Foinikas made another transfer move. The Syrians announced their takeover 33-year-old international winger Yiannis Roumeliotakis.

The 33-year-old winger has considerable A1 experience, having won a league, a cup and two League Cups with Olympiacos Nikos Samaras. Starting in his hometown of Heraklion in Crete, he continued in Panhellenic, AEK, Kifissia, OFI and Filippo Verias, while in early 2022 he played in Switzerland’s Chênois Genève, with whom he reached the final of the championship.

Yiannis Roumeliotakis’ statement on his transfer: “I am very pleased that Foinikas chose me and made me this offer, because we all know that this is a team that has been in the division for years and ranked among the most reliable, organized and competitive teams in the championship.

My decision was even easier as I’m from an island (Heraklion, Crete) and going to an island, so I have an extra treat. I think I’ll adapt very quickly and I hope we get the results we want.”

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).

Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.

For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.

In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.

The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:13, 30:28).

In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.

The final match will take place on December 26.
