Men’s Volleyball League: Back to Playoffs, Mini-League Remains
ESAP has decided to return to the playoffs to determine the volley league champion while we will have a mini championship in the struggle for survival.
After the decision of ESAP, the champion of the men’s volley league for the next season will be crowned with a playoff. Instead, we will have a mini-league for the night before.
The corresponding announcement in detail: “The ESAP Board of Directors, at the July 26 meeting, decided the following regarding the system for conducting the Volley League Championship and the Nikos Samaras League Cup:
Volleyball League Championship 2022-23
The 10 teams compete against each other in the A phase. A total of 18 games will be played using the one-to-all system. The 18 games of the A phase are divided into two rounds. Each team will play a total of 18 games, 9 home, 9 away.
* In Phase B, teams will be divided into three groups after matchday 18 according to their ranking.
* The 4 best teams play in a playoff. Both the semi-finals (1-4) and the finals (1-2), in which the champion is determined, are played with the 3 wins. The first game is played at the home of the team with the highest scoring, followed by alternating games at each team’s home.
*Teams ranked 5th and 6th after matchday 18 will play each other for 5th place which leads to Balkan Cup or conditionally European Cup.
*The teams placed 7th to 10th will play a mini league against each other. They carry over their score from Phase A. The top two teams in the table remain in the division and two are relegated to the Pre League.
Nikos Samara’s League Cup 2022-23
In the first phase of the Nikos Samaras League Cup, the three new teams in the category and OFI, which took 7th place in the 2021-22 season, will take part. There will be a draw where two pairs play doubles to qualify for the B phase. Most likely, both matches of each couple will be played at a common location to avoid long journeys, but this will be decided at the next board meeting. on Tuesday, August 2″.

Volleyball players of Kazan “Zenith” won the Russian Super Cup for the 11th time
Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

Kazan “Zenit” reached the final of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Kazan “Zenit” defeated “Zenith” from St. Petersburg in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv became the first finalist of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup
Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Dynamo Moscow in the semi-finals of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.

In the other semi-final, which will take place later on Thursday, St. Petersburg and Kazan Zenit will meet.
The final match will take place on December 26.
