Olympiakos men’s volleyball team announced the acquisition of Tonsek Stern. The international Slovenian diagonal competed in Piacenza, Italy last year.

Olympiacos announced the acquisition of Tonsek Stern. The Red-Whites have been strengthened with Slovenia international Diagonal, who played in Piacenza’s shirt in Italy last season.

The announcement of Olympiakos in detail:

“OLYMPIACOS SFP announces the start of its cooperation with Tonsek Stern. Slovenian international Diagonal (date of birth 14.11.1995, height 2.00 m) has signed his new contract and joins the club’s men’s volleyball team.

Tonsek Stern raced in Piacenza, Italy last season. In 2020-21 he also played with Padua in the Italian top flight, while in 2019-20 he wore Halkbank’s shirt in Turkey. Tonsek Stern also played for Wisla Bydgoszcz (Poland), Al Arabi (Qatar), Latina, Verona (Italy) and Kalsit Kamnik (Slovenia) with whom he won the Slovenian Cup in 2015/16.

With the Slovenian national team, Tonšek Stern won two silver medals at the European Championships in 2019 (2019, 2021) and gold in the FIVB Challenger Cup. In 2015 he was top scorer in the U21 World Cup, while a year earlier he was top crosser in the U20 European Championship.
