Irina Voronkova, player of the Sirius Federal Territory team, appreciated the opening match of the women’s volleyball tournament of the Spartakiad of the Strongest.
In the first game of the tournament, the FT Sirius team lost to the Moscow team in a tie-break (2:3), leading 2:0, the meeting took place in Kaliningrad.
– I am very pleased to return to Kaliningrad, where I spent four seasons. I was waiting for this moment and was glad to come out here again to the site, to see the fans. The match, of course, turned out to be interesting. It’s a shame they gave up. A little was not enough. There were several moments at the end of the third installment that did not allow us to win it and take the match. But it’s okay – our girls are young, they learn quickly, and the tournament has just started. Everything is ahead of us, – the websites of the Spartakiad and the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) quote Voronkova.
– Losing 0:2, we continued to believe that we could save the match. And so it happened. Did you play five match points in the fifth game? It happens. While physically we are not ready in the best way, we had to speed up the preparation. But all teams are on an equal footing. And it’s always a pleasure to play in Kaliningrad – great atmosphere, cool fans! – said Tatyana Dmitrieva, the binder of the Moscow team.
In another match, which was hosted by Kaliningrad, athletes from the Kaliningrad region beat St. Petersburg with a score of 3:0.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

Novosibirsk Lokomotiv defeated Moscow MSTU in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in Moscow ended with a score of 3–2 (25:21, 20:25, 25:23, 23:25, 15:10) in favor of the guests.
Lokomotiv scored 44 points and ranks second in the Super League standings, MSTU (6 points) is 16th.
In other matches of the day, the Gazprom-Ugra club beat Dynamo-Ural from Ufa at home (3–0, 26:24, 28:26, 25:21), Nizhny Novgorod Gorky lost away to Orenburg (0–3, 28:30, 11:25, 25:27), Belogorye took victory over Yaroslavich in Tula (3–0, 25:17, 25:15, 25:22).
In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
