Coach Verbov on the volleyball tournament at the Spartakiad: “I would not classify the Tatarstan national team as superfavourites”

The head coach of the Tatarstan national volleyball team Alexei Verbov said that he does not consider the team the main favorite of the All-Russian Spartakiad in summer sports among the strongest athletes in 2022.
In the sixth round of the group stage of the Spartakiad, the team of Tatarstan defeated the Novosibirsk Region team with a score of 3–1 (19:25, 25:17, 25:19, 25:22). This victory was the sixth in a row for volleyball players from Tatarstan in the tournament.
– I would not classify us as super favorites, because St. Petersburg, Moscow, and Novosibirsk play in squads without foreign players. The only thing is that a number of players from Novosibirsk have certain health problems, they are in a slightly worse situation.
We had a clear picture before this match, we were without one game in the final. We tried to create stress for the guys, in the first game we succeeded. An unusual state, for us as well. Despite all the difficulties, we will leave them inside the team, the players came out of a difficult situation with their heads held high. The result is not bad, the quality of the game is not the best, but this is the third match in a row, it was necessary to enter the game.
In the first game, many uncharacteristic mistakes were made, but as planned, everything ended well, Verbov told Match TV.
The Spartakiad of the strongest started on August 10 and will end on October 2.

A doctor from the Yenisei volleyball club provided emergency assistance to a child on board the plane
The doctor of the men’s volleyball club “Yenisei” from Krasnoyarsk, Shakhriyar Mirzoev, provided emergency assistance to the boy on board the plane.
The incident happened during the New Year holidays on the Kazan-Krasnoyarsk flight. The specialist noticed that the man and child were in the toilet for 20 minutes, and the flight attendant came in there periodically.
“I approached and saw that a boy of about nine was standing at the sink filled with water and blood. At that moment, the flight attendant began to ask if there was a doctor on board, to which I replied: “I’m a doctor, I’ll help now.”
I tried to stop the bleeding using cotton wool and improvised means that the conductors had, applying cold to the bridge of the nose. But this had no effect – everything was soaked in blood. The bleeding did not stop for about 20 minutes.
I tried to calm the child down and began to think about what to do next. I asked the flight attendants for a first aid kit and found ampoules of adrenaline there. Having opened two ampoules, I soaked two cotton pads with the solution and inserted them deep into the child’s nose. After a couple of minutes, I saw that the blood had stopped,” AiF Krasnoyarsk quotes Mirzoev as saying.
The child came to his senses. As it turned out, the boy had undergone surgery to remove his adenoids the day before, which probably caused the bleeding.

In the Women’s Super League, Minsk in the away match of the 17th round defeated the Zarechye-Odintsovo team with a score of 3-2 (15:25, 22:25, 25:21, 25:15, 15:7).

Volleyball players of St. Petersburg “Zenith” beat “Nova” and won their fifth victory in a row in the Super League
St. Petersburg “Zenith” defeated “Nova” from Novokuybyshevsk in the match of the 18th round of the Russian Volleyball Championship.
The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3–2 (25:17, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25, 15:13). Zenit extended its winning streak in the Super League to five matches.
In other matches of the day, Zenit Kazan beat Krasnoyarsk Yenisey at home – 3-1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:27, 25:20), the Dynamo-LO club (Sosnovy Bor) defeated Kemerovo Kuzbass at home – 3-0 (25:15, 25:19, 25:20).
The leader in the table is Zenit Kazan (16 wins, 45 points), Zenit from St. Petersburg (14 wins, 43 points) is second.
