Volleyball player Shcherbinin about changing roles in the Spartakiad match: “It was hard, but I didn’t carry the load in attack”

Dmitry Shcherbinin, the blocker of the Tatarstan national volleyball team, admitted that it was hard for him to change his role in the match against the team of the Leningrad Region at the All-Russian Spartakiade in Summer Sports among the strongest athletes in 2022.
On Friday, Alexei Verbov’s team beat the Leningrad Region team 3-2. Shcherbinin was transferred to the position of the player.
– It was hard, but the coach warned in advance. The guys who were playing had to rest. Everyone is well aware that the Spartakiad is a rich, difficult tournament.
Alexey Igorevich (Verbov) said: “Come out, do what you can. Don’t think of anything.” It is clear that I did not carry any main load in the attack, only hopeless balls were passed to me. He accepted something, scored something, blocked something, it seemed to look good, God bless, we won, ”Shcherbinin told Match TV.
The national team of Tatarstan reached the finals of the Spartakiad of the strongest, having won victories in all rounds of the group stage.

Kazan “Zenit” became the winner of the Russian Volleyball Super Cup among men’s teams.
On Friday, the Kazan team beat Lokomotiv from Novosibirsk – 3-1 (25:19, 25:17, 23:25, 25:21).
Zenit won the Russian Super Cup for the third year in a row. In total, the Kazan team has a record 11 victories in the tournament. Lokomotiv took part in the decisive matches for the trophy four times, but were defeated each time.
For the first time in history, the Russian Super Cup was held in the Final Four format. All meetings took place in St. Petersburg.

The meeting in St. Petersburg ended with a score of 3-2 (25:20, 25:17, 18:25, 23:25, 15:12) in favor of the Kazan team.
In the other semi-final earlier on Thursday, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk defeated Dynamo Moscow in four sets.
The final match between Lokomotiv and Zenit will take place on Friday, starting at 19:30 Moscow time.
