The 25 players standing at the exit door of the NBA

From Vildoza and Malendon to Dorsey and Krejci to Bacon, Harkless, Layman, Samanic, Kostas Antetokounmpo and Watanabe-Garza, Sportish features 25 cases of NBA players looking straight to the next stage in their careers.

In mid-October, the EuroLeague and national championships got underway, but several teams, whether from the highest shelves or from the middle of the continent, are still looking to put the finishing touches on their rosters. And those touches can be in color… NBA as just days before the start of the 2022-23 season (early morning October 19th) the final cuts will be made to close the 15+2 regular season player rosters create.

Some notable players have already dipped into the free agent pool, like peripheral (Games 2-4) Dwayne Bacon, who made a splash with the Monaco shirt last year. Some know their destiny and expect to be free again today, tomorrow and the day after to find their next job. That Sportish Singled out 25 athletes who usefully consider a European perspective and find themselves in the EuroLeague, EuroCup, Basketball Champions League after signing either Annex 9 (training camp) or Annex 10 (G-League prospect) contracts with their teams.

the short ones

THE Theo Maledon He’s a great case of a youngster who went into the NBA unprepared and joined an organization with tremendous competition. In two seasons with the Thunder, he averaged 8.8 points (42% on 2 points, 32% on 3 points, 77% on field goals), 2.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and a steal in 116 games per 23.2 minutes. We can ‘see’ him at Villerban, at 21 he has great potential and logic says his record isn’t that great.

THE Luke Vidosa, on the other hand he didn’t have success at Knicks and Bucks and at 27 he packed his bags to play in our country again. Baskonia has his rights in Spain, several teams like Maccabi Tel Aviv, Fenerbahce, possibly Red Star and Partizan are interested in him and the only thing that is certain is that the Argentine will have no trouble finding a contract once he is out Milwaukee Bucks is fired.

The notable little ones also include the 22-year-old two-meter Czech, Vit Krejci who had 6.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2 assists per 23 minutes in 30 games with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but also the 25-year-old 1m.96 American Ty Jerome who enjoyed a three-year stint with the Suns – Thunder and averaged 7.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per 17.1 minutes in 112 games.

He’s a good goalscorer Liddell Wigginton (24, 1.88), who played last year and has a few hours left with the Milwaukee Bucks, is an experienced, all-rounder and team peripheral Langston Galloway (8.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists per 21.8 minutes in 452 games over eight seasons with the Knicks, Pelicans, Kings, Pistons, Suns, Nets, Bucks) the 23-year-old is also an interesting one case Javonte Smart who has had chances with the Bucks, Heat and Pelicans and could become a superscorer in Europe thanks to his ability to execute from anywhere on the floor.

In the case of Tyler Dorsey, you can already read on Sportish. We left Facundo Cabasso out of the text as he is in negotiations with the Dallas Mavericks.

the strikers

A really great case of a striker who can play both 3-4 and 4-3 is Maurice Harkless (29, 2m.01, text photo), who played in the NBA from 2012 until recently when he was released by the Houston Rockets. His stats weren’t impressive (6.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, one assist, one steal per 22.6 minutes in 621 games), but Harkless (photo) is a decent halfman, a good defender, who has a season of 42 % has three points in the field and would be very dangerous in the European distance.

A good trio is o Wes Igudu (27, 1m.98), who of course didn’t catch the Orlando Magic (4.8 points, 2.5 rebounds per 17.6 minutes in his first three seasons). Dwayne Speck who is officially dismissed as a free man, o Jake Laie (28, 2m.03), which fits European basketball, but also o Timoth Luwagou-Cambaro (27, 2m.01) with 5.9 points and 2 rebounds per 16 minutes in 328 games in the NBA. In Europe he could become a regional force, but in his opinion he is bigger than the EuroLeague and it could be difficult to convince him to come back to our country.

A case with an interesting perspective is that of Estonia Henry Drill (22, 2.05), who struggled through Bamberg and Pesaro, tried his hand at the Bulls this year and is now part of their team in the G-League. We saw Drel at EuroBasket, he has a place in EuroLeague and in some teams like Alba or Baskonia and has the prospect of becoming a very valuable basketball player who will do everything on the floor at a good level.

the big ones

There is talent here! From the boys Luke Samanic (22.2m.08) – Costa Antetokounmpo (24, 2m.13), all stating they will be cut by Celtics and Bulls respectively, until the most experienced Noah VonleCody Zeller who are no longer convincing the league organizations that they can deliver, and for their own sake they should try something else.

THE Devondei Kakok (26, 2m.01) and o Mamadi Diakite (25, 2m.06) are two different heights, an undersized with motivation and a chopper that pins and blocks everything, while a very dynamic foursome with a European threesome that can bet at 28 and at 2m.06 with and with the EuroLeague centers are o Yuta Watanabe. A very competitive, very tough Japanese man who dreams of a career in the NBA, he is an intriguing case to hotly debate.

We will definitely put the 26-year-old 2m.03 in the “Dynamites”. Alice Johnson who hasn’t made a name for himself but hasn’t gotten any real opportunities to show he’s up to the standard while is a very different case Moses Brown who, at 23 years old and 2.18m tall, is a dinosaur making things and wonders in Europe thanks to his shots close to the basket and his rebound appeal (6 points, 5.8 rebounds in just 14.1 minutes in 92 games). would Blazers, Thunder, Mavericks and Cavaliers in the last three years).

One basketball player who is sure to be claimed by many as he leaves the Phoenix Suns is the former Zalgiris player. Jock Landall (27, 2m.11), who of course can break into any squad and at any level, but the one we’d really like to see in our parts is the 23-year-old Luca Garza who looks much taller than the 2.08m stated on his CV. Tough but extremely competitive, he averaged 5.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in just 12 minutes last year with the Detroit Pistons. Clearly a center of Europe, wish someone would convince and invest in it.

PLEKHANOV: “There are also a few points I would like to point out”

Head coach of “Kharkov Falcons” Valery Plekhanov He summarized the team’s 2025 results and talked about the preparations for the continuation of the season:

“Summing up the results of the calendar year, I want to congratulate all our fans on the upcoming New Year and Merry Christmas, wish our favorite team peace and good victories! “Kharkov Falcons” are the first players of this Super League season, so second place at the moment is a good result.

There are a few points we would like to emphasize separately. First of all, seven players from last season’s active squad won the Premier League together, but five of them never played in the Super League. Therefore, the experience they gained in the first half of this season is almost priceless. Secondly, Kharkiv Falcons are one of the two champion teams that did not play a single match at home. It’s very difficult when you’re not playing for your fans, you’re training in one gym, and you’re playing in a different gym every time, even on home tours. In these conditions, 4 defeats in 13 matches is a good result.

One of the most negative moments of this year was not being able to participate in the last four of the Ukrainian Cup. Unfortunately, we were a little unlucky in the draw. After an emotionally difficult and physically exhausting match with Krivbass, we did not have enough strength for the next match against Kiev-Basket in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, our performances in the cup are over, but now we will be able to focus all our efforts on the championship.

Our main problem now is injuries. We have five injured players, three of whom have serious injuries that require a long recovery period. We’re about to get off to a very tough start to the new calendar season because the Falcons will be playing basketball six weekends in a row, which means six road trips with no rest time. If we could count on all twelve players in the squad at the beginning of the season, there will no longer be such a rotation. Therefore, all the responsibility and burden will fall on the players in the rankings. I hope they get over their injuries in the new year, recover from their injuries as soon as possible, return to work and help their beloved club properly represent Kharkiv in the Super League.

Despite the holidays, we have training scheduled almost seven days a week. “I really hope that by January 10 we will be a combat-ready team that can solve serious problems.”
