To begin with, the Baltic team confidently passed the group of the European Cup and in the 1/8 final, in a worthy fight, which, by the way, lost to the Italian Virtus from Bologna, the future winner of the tournament. But the real success was expected at the domestic championship of “Litkabelis”. In the semi-finals of the Lithuanian championship, he caused a real sensation by defeating Prometheus’ rival legendary Kaunas Zalgiris 3:1, winning the final silver medals for the second time in history.
After this success, many important players left the team, who moved from Spain, Greece, Turkey to more status clubs and even to the same local big Zalgiris. However, Serbian head coach Nenad Chanak remained at the club. He has the lion’s share in building the sensational team last year. By the way, Ukrainian basketball fans should remember him well.
