A basketball player in the United States punched her opponent in the face. The athlete was forcibly taken to the locker room
The police have already taken on the aggressive girl.
The basketball court rarely becomes a place where athletes sort things out with their fists. If such incidents happen, they mostly concern men’s teams. However, a completely wild story happened in the USA the other day – a women’s match in the student league ended with an assault. Even law enforcement agencies became interested in what happened.
knockout punch
The match of the women’s student league between Memphis and Bowling Green (a university in Ohio) did not portend any scandals. The meeting itself went smoothly, without incident. The hosts easily defeated rivals from Tennessee in their stands (73:60).
Excesses began after the game. The defeat, apparently, greatly hurt Memphis basketball player Jamira Shuts. The most productive athlete in the hosts decided to arrange a showdown at the post-match handshake of the teams.
Shuts stopped in front of Australian athlete Elissa Brett. There was a tense verbal skirmish between the rivals, which lasted several seconds. After that, Jamira, as if nothing had happened, punched her opponent in the face – a hard knockout. And they say that after a fight they don’t wave their fists!
The accuracy of hitting the Memphis basketball player will be the envy of many boxing stars. After the blow, Brett fell and could not get up from the parquet for a long time. She left the site with the help of a coach. “Helped” the fighter Shuts leave. The enraged athlete was forcibly taken to the locker room by representatives of the Memphis coaching staff.
Assault charge
Both sides are certainly unhappy with the outcome of the conflict. According to Bowling Green, Elissa now has a hematoma under her eye. The attacking basketball player was even less fortunate. A police investigation is already underway against her.
“Following an unsubstantiated physical incident after a college league home game in Memphis Thursday, the Bowling Green State University Police Department charged a member of the Memphis women’s basketball team with assault,” law enforcement said in a press release.
A scandalous escapade could well cost the career of a fifth-year Memphis college student. But she was predicted a great future! Jamira became only the 27th female basketball player in the history of the existence of the women’s collegiate league of the United States, who managed to overcome the mark of 1000 points.
The actions of the basketball player were disappointed in her team. The college management issued a statement condemning the athlete’s act.
“The incident following Thursday’s women’s basketball game was extremely unfortunate and certainly not in line with expectations for our programs and student-athletes. Since the incident happened after the game, it is under the jurisdiction of the local authorities and we are fully cooperating with them in the investigation. We will refrain from further comment until the proceedings are completed, the college said in a statement.
It seems that Jamira Shuts will have to forget about professional basketball. Even if criminal prosecution can be avoided, the path to the prestigious leagues in North America will almost certainly be closed to her anyway.

Jokic may lose his chance to compete for NBA MVP award
Denver Nuggets announced Nikola Jokic He will miss at least four weeks due to left knee hyperextension.
The Serb is expected to miss all 18 matches in January and his maximum appearances this season could be limited to 64 matches. So Jokic will lose the opportunity to compete for the NBA’s main prizes – MVP and inclusion in the All-NBA, as this requires playing at least 65 games in the regular season.
Theoretically, he could return for the January 31 game against the Brooklyn Nets, which would give Nikola the opportunity to play 65 games before the end of the season, but that scenario is unlikely.
Jokic was injured in the last seconds of the first half of the match against Miami Heat (123:147) and did not return to the field after a long break. Before his injury, he managed to score 21 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in just 19 minutes.
Jokic averaged 29.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 11.1 assists per game this season.
