Platha: “How many European clubs like AEK have so much history?” Even in Spain there are very few.

AEK unveiled its new kits for the 2023/34 anniversary season to honor the club’s 100-year history, and the team’s coach Juan Plata spoke at the unveiling.

The new AEK jerseys were presented by the team at the Ano Liosia Stadium, with the yellow and black team revealing the looks that the team’s players will wear in the club’s 2023/24 anniversary season due to the completion of the club’s 100-year history.

Union coach Juan Plata spoke at the presentation about the new year, his expectations of the team and the world.

What the AEK coach said in detail:

“My players have very good names, but we have to create the atmosphere to be a team. We are in that process.”

My players are showing off their most competitive side. If you win, try to win twenty. If you lose on ten, try to lose on three. You have to be competitive in every moment of your life. Be competitive, be hungry, be ambitious. We have to be humble.

I ask my staff and the players that they should feel privileged. They do what they dream of. Do your best from there. How long will your basketball career last at the highest level? 10, 15 years? The first key is to be happy.

We spoke a lot with the players before they signed, not only with me but also with the general manager. Many players travel abroad just because of their salary. We told them that we don’t want players just for that. I know it’s very romantic, but we have to make them realize that they belong to a group with a 100-year history. How many European clubs have so much history? Even in my country there are very few.

The history of AEK is very long. Let’s see if we are able to write another piece of history.

We can’t guarantee that we’ll win every night. We can do what is up to us. Let’s be competitive. Never give up, end the day by going to bed knowing you did your best.

When I came to Greece to play with teams like Real, Zalgiris or Malaga, we always knew that the game would start and we would lose 10-0 because of the crowd. Because the world is so strong and so cruel. We have to bring that atmosphere into the team, but in the right way. Respect the opponent, do the best for the team and nothing more.”
