The Milwaukee Bucks roster after the release of Sandro Mamukelasvili

How many roster spots are open in Milwaukee? Which two players are the favourites? How is the Bucks’ material evolving after Sandro Mamukelasvili’s release? Sportish evaluates the data.

The decision to release Sandro Mamukelasvili didn’t go off like … a bombshell, but it wasn’t something Bucks fans were expecting, either. Milwaukee officials released the Georgia Tall to open another roster spot, but also to allow him to find the next stop in his career since Mike Budenholzer wasn’t counting on him.

Now the Deer have 13 contracts, a ten-day contract and a two-way contract, allowing them to seek between one and three basketball players for the final stages of the regular season and the playoffs. It just seems like they’re slowly ending up in the group of athletes they’ll end the year with. And therefore they are not in a hurry with additions and subtractions.

In this group of 13, everyone except Brook Lopez, who is a classic center, can play more than one position. And that’s a big win for Mike Budenholzer and GM Jon Horst.

With Serge Ibaka gone and Sandro Mamukelasvili sacked there was a need for a body so it looks like Magers Leonard will keep a second ten-day contract before a decision is made on the rest of the season. Leonard opens the court with his perimeter shoot, is a remarkably tall man and is best known in Milwaukee. So it’s very likely that he’ll get the 14th place on the roster.

Who is the 15th going to? Logic dictates that 23-year-old cornerback AJ Green will convert his two-way to a regular to qualify for the playoffs. He’s a great three-point shooter (44% in his rookie season while only playing 9.8 minutes per game), he’s in a good position to “survive”, Giannis Antetokounmpo trusts him and everything points to it suggests we’ll see him in the Bucks roster next year as well.

So if Leonard and Green occupy the last two roster spots, the Bucks have two two-ways to offer and try someone out with them, most likely from their G-League team. What is certain is that with a 16-game winning streak and given that they already sit No. 1 in the entire NBA, they are in no rush, no stress, and only need one thing. Health so the playoffs are approaching in full force.
