Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic was fined $ 40,000 for arguing with a fan during a match in Indiana.

The incident occurred shortly after Sunday’s meeting between the Blazers and the Pacers. Nurkic approached a fan, stood a few inches away from him, grabbed his cell phone and threw it in the stands.

According to Chris Haynes, of Yahoo! SportThe fan allegedly insulted Nurkic’s grandmother and the latter died of complications related to COVID-19 in 2020.

What led to this confrontation, which lasted only a few seconds, remains unclear. A guard stepped in between the two men after he dropped the phone and then the player left.

The Pacers won the game 129-98. Nurkic, nicknamed “The Bosnian Monster”, was not playing. He has been on the sidelines since mid-February with plantar fasciitis.
