A $ 20,000 fine was imposed by the NBA on Saturday on Chicago Bulls center Tristan Thompson for swearing at a referee.

The incident occurred on Thursday night in New Orleans, after Thompson received two technical errors and was sent off with 21.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter, in the defeat of Chicago with 126-109 by the Pelicans.

In 48 games for the Bulls this season, Thompson has averaged 6.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

The 31-year-old Canadian was a key pillar for the Cleveland Cavaliers during their four consecutive NBA Finals in a row, including an NBA Championship in 2016 starring LeBron James.
