For the second time in a row, Rookie of the Month in the NBA East is Scotty Barnes of the Toronto Raptors.

The price awarded on Monday covers March and April.

As of March 1, Barnes has averaged 16.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, four assists and one steal in 36.1 minutes.

Over 22 games, Barnes has signed five games with at least 20 points.

He was the author of 19 points in five cases.

On March 18, he scored high in his career with 31 points and 17 rebounds, in a defeat in overtime by the Lakers.

Barnes was selected fourth in the draft last year.

He averaged 15.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 74 games.

Barnes is the only rookie in the league to be in the top five in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks this season.

The Raptors will open the playoffs on Saturday night in Philadelphia.

Also Monday, the NBA announced that the player of the week in the East is Joel Embiid of the 76ers.

The league’s top scorer this season (30.6), Embiid averaged 38.7 points and 14.3 rebounds last week.

Other Sixers who were NBA champions were Wilt Chamberlain and Allen Iverson.

The Cameroonian is the first center to win the NBA Scoring Championship after Shaquille O’Neal in 1999-2000.
