The Sacramento Kings are parting ways with coach Alvin Gentry and will instead look for a new coach, according to sources quoted by ESPN’s Adrian Voinarowski.

Under Gentry, the Kings won 30-52 this season to lose the playoffs for the 16th consecutive year.

The Kings’ search for a coach is expected to be extensive and will include candidates with experience in rebuilding the rosters of younger players, sources say.

Among the names already mentioned are Kenny Atkinson, Steve Clifford, Mark Jackson, Mike Brown and Bucks assistants Charles Lee and Darvin Ham.

Sources tell ESPN that the Kings and Gentry, who have one year left on their contracts, are discussing a role in staff and expect to find a solution later this week.
