NEW YORK – Carl-Anthony Towns scored a three-pointer in 29 seconds to help the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the New York Knicks 112-110 on Tuesday.

The Knicks took advantage of a good play by Kemba Walker in his first game after an absence of nine games, but it was not enough.

The T-Wolves confirmed their success when Alec Burks’s long-range winning streak lost its last-minute mark.

Anthony Edwards had 21 points for Minnesota and the Towns added 20. It was the T-Wolves’ sixth win in their last eight games and their record is now 22-22.

Evan Fournier had 27 points and Julius Randle had 21 for the Knicks, who slipped a game below 0,500 to 22-23.

Klay Thompson finds his orientation

Clay Thompson is finding his feet more and more as he proved in the Golden State Warriors’ 102-86 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Thompson was his team’s most productive player with 21 points per night. Specifically, he managed three baskets from the city center. Teammate Stephen Curry did slightly better in this crowd with four three-pointers, but finished the game with 18 points. He also had eight assists.

Andrew Wiggins had 19 points and Jonathan Cuminga had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Looney was sent off in 23 minutes, but got 10 rebounds.

At the Pistons, Hamidou Diallo finished the game with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
